Resume and Cover Letter Workshop

Are you hoping to advance your career and wondering how to market yourself? Has it been a while since you updated your resume? Do you wish you could know what hiring managers and recruiters are really looking for in your cover letters and resume? And what’s the deal with that one-page-resume rule? Is that legit?

We hope to address these questions and more, help you dust off that resume, and get you on the path to the career you really want.

Join EPIPDC for a workshop all about resumes and cover letters with recruiters from Careers in Nonprofits and Arabella Advisors.

Our speakers:

Elizabeth Stone: Elizabeth Stone has been successful in managing searches for CNP’s Permanent Division in Washington, DC since March of 2014. She places a large focus on recruiting and building relationships with Executive-level candidates in order to consistently present top talent to her clients. During her time at CNP, she’s grown from Recruiter to Manager of the DC Permanent Division, overseeing business development and recruitment efforts of her team. Elizabeth has helped her clients strengthen and develop their organizations by placing Executive and mid-level professionals in areas such as Fundraising/Development, Finance, Administrative, Marketing/Communications and Membership.

Prior to joining CNP, Elizabeth worked as a Legal Assistant for the DC Bar, and has four years of legal recruiting experience for international law firms in the DC area. Elizabeth is a native Washingtonian, who completed her BA in English Literature from Miami University in Ohio and is a Certified Search Consultant through the American Staffing Association.

Elizabeth Tishman: Lise Tishman is the Manager of the Temporary Division of Careers In Nonprofits. For the past two and a half years, she has worked with a team of recruiters to manage the full cycle of nonprofit recruitment, from short-term, administrative support assignments to ongoing Executive-level positions. In this role, Lise leverages five years of prior experience working in the nonprofit sector to understand the unique challenges that nonprofit organizations face today.

Prior to working in staffing, Lise worked in program management with a variety of job-readiness and college-prep nonprofits, including Goodwill, Communities in Schools and Liberty’s Kitchen. When she’s not at work, you’ll find Lise enjoying the outdoors - running, hiking or biking in Rock Creek Park with her dog and husband. Lise has a BA in Communication Arts & Sciences from Penn State, and an MPA with a concentration in Nonprofit Leadership from the University of New Orleans and is a Certified Staffing Professional through the American Staffing Association.

Desy Osunsade: Desy is the Associate Director of Talent Acquisition and Diversity on Arabella’s Culture and Talent team. In that role, she partners with hiring managers across the company to attract and retain top talent. Desy has more than 10 years of experience in human resources, having worked in recruitment, employee relations, training and development, and diversity and inclusion.

Prior to joining Arabella, Desy worked in workforce development for Maryland’s Prince George’s County Economic Development Corp., the nonprofit arm of the county government, where she matched job-seekers to area businesses. Before that, Desy worked in sales, operations, and human resources for American Greetings in Cleveland, Ohio, where a local magazine recognized her as one of Cleveland’s “40 under 40” for her professional success and civic contributions. Desy is passionate about giving back. She has volunteered with political campaigns and many nonprofits, including Habitat for Humanity, Food and Friends, and So Others Might Eat. She currently volunteers with the Prince George’s County chapter of Organizing for Action on the group’s gun violence prevention campaign. She is also a member of a giving circle, Black Benefactors. Desy holds a BA in journalism from the University of the District of Columbia.
