In September 2024, The Overbrook Foundation will offer a three-month fellowship for graduate students interested in philanthropy and the environment. The Overbrook Fellowship provides an opportunity for graduate students in the New York area to partner with Overbrook Foundation senior leadership as the Foundation undertakes time-sensitive policy and grantmaking strategies. Fellows will work closely with Overbrook’s Environment program team on a topic related to the Foundation’s core mission and values.
The selected fellows will join forces with Overbrook's Environment program team, focusing on a topic that resonates with the Foundation's core mission and values. The specific duties of the fellow will be crafted based on individual factors such as experience, interests, and focus areas. However, the Environment Fellow can anticipate involvement in one or two research projects aligned with the current strategic focus of the Environment portfolio. These research areas may span issues like coastal restoration, forest conservation, empowering local communities against petrochemical expansion, and addressing the challenge of single-use plastics. Additional responsibilities include the identification and evaluation of potential grantees, particularly within the Coastal Restoration and Communities & Climate groups. The fellow will also contribute to the development of case studies showcasing the impact of grant-supported programmatic work and play a role in the initiation of new projects through primary research and writing.
