Executive Director (KAVI)

Kings Against Violence Initiative (KAVI) was founded in 2009 by Dr. Robert Gore, an Emergency Room physician who felt compelled to address the rising incidence of violence among youth in Central Brooklyn. KAVI offers youth-focused interventions that are school, community, and hospital-based in Central Brooklyn. KAVI’s programming provides youth with productive and safe alternatives to engaging in interpersonal violence.

With foundations in medicine and public health, KAVI views violence as a disease that infiltrates, infects, and sickens communities. KAVI addresses the symptoms of violence while also drilling down to uncover and address the underlying causes and influences. By studying the root causes of the circumstances that lead to violence, KAVI is shifting the emphasis from individuals to the broader, collective environment that influences behaviors.

Over the past nine years, KAVI has seen steady growth and has expanded programs and organizational capacity. As Dr. Gore steps down from the Executive Director role, KAVI is looking for a dynamic and seasoned leader to move the organization into its next phase of impact.
