Grants Associate (JPB)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The JPB Foundation (JPB), one of the largest grantmaking private foundations in the United States, seeks nominations and applications for the position of Grants Associate. Reporting to the Director of Grants Management, the Grants Associate will support grantmaking across the Foundation’s portfolios, supporting the administration of more than $240+ million in grants each year.

The JPB Foundation was created in 2011 with an endowment bequeathed by Jeffry M. Picower. Led by Barbara Picower as President and Chair, JPB reflects and sustains the philanthropic spirit that animated Jeffry and Barbara’s history of giving. Based in New York City, JPB’s mission is to advance opportunity in the United States through transformational initiatives that empower those living in poverty, enrich and sustain our environment, and enable pioneering medical research. As the foundation continues to grow and deepen its mission impact, it is looking for a passionate, mission-aligned professional who can support grants management across the Foundation.

The Grants Associate is a key member of The JPB Foundation staff who will work closely with the Director of Grants Management, grants management team members, program officers, and JPB leadership. They will manage proposals from start to finish, including legal compliance, review of grantee financials, intake of grant requests, grant payments and reporting; and will work closely with the each JPB grantmaking program, developing a working knowledge of the strategy and grantees.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong commitment to social justice and the mission of JPB as well as experience and understanding of grants management, ideally in a private foundation context. He/she/they will be versatile in technology systems and databases. Given JPB’s transition to Fluxx, its new grants management system, the ideal candidate will bring some prior experience with this technology platform. The Associate will be detail oriented, highly collaborative, and a quick learner, and bring strong communication skills and the ability to independently manage a robust, fast-paced workload.
