Philanthropic advocacy has the potential and responsibility to go beyond tax law and work towards broader shifts in policy. Re-examining the role of advocacy & policy within the philanthropic sector will help to build collaborations between grantmaking and advocacy that can be leveraged to drive greater systemic change.
This includes:
- Engaging in advocacy as a foundation and/or as a leader within a philanthropic institution
- The roles of 501c3 vs 501c4 organizations
- National and local policies that impact communities, non-profits, and the institute of philanthropy
