Program Manager, Decolonizing Wealth Project

Position Overview

The Decolonizing Wealth Project (DWP) aims to collectively move us all from disparities to equity. Through various spaces, platforms, group discussions, and programming, the project promotes a world vision in which everyone can live our best lives, thrive in our cultures, and bring about healing from generations of colonial trauma. Decolonizing Wealth Project aims to help funders give equitably, exercising the value of reciprocity.

We highlight and execute innovations that are taking place to “indigenize” funding and emphasize the wisdom needed to secure this vision - namely, establishing relationships that are the cornerstone of building thriving communities for all.

Through our tools and community engagement, DWP engages thousands of supporters and advocates in identifying and exploring bold solutions that can help us all be better stewards of resources — and begin the long process of healing that is required of us all to thrive.

The Program Manager will work closely with the Founder of the Decolonizing Wealth Project (DWP) to cultivate and support effective programming to advance the mission and leadership of DWP in the movement for philanthropic justice. 

Responsibilities

Program Administration and Management 

  • Develop work plans with goals, timelines and clear deliverables for various programs.

  • Ensure projects remain on time and on budget.

  • Prepare and present progress reports and ensure the project is furthering organizational goals.

  • Manage day-to-day partnerships related to the DWP’s stakeholders, which may include grassroots organizations, donors, and consultants to accomplish goals in work plans.

  • Support network building efforts.

  • Work closely with the communications team to elevate the work of DWP and disseminate stories and lessons learned, on the impact of program and grantmaking initiatives.

  • Manage various engagements, events, and trainings.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Donor Engagement 

  • Support the growth and maintenance of major philanthropic partnerships by writing proposals, providing regular donor updates and reporting. 

  • Work with the founder to strategically identify and cultivate new donors.

  • Serve as an effective public spokesperson for DWP and raise the visibility of the organization’s work by presenting and writing in diverse forums.

  • Support and facilitate engagement with donors on online platforms.

  • Build on the DWP identity as a thought leader in areas of programmatic focus as well as an innovator in social justice philanthropy.

  • Support philanthropic advising and training programs.

Qualifications

  • Significant work experience (5+ years) and credibility as a leader in regards to philanthropy, donor engagement, and working in communities of color.

  • Experience working in coalition(s), including developing shared plans, coordinating external and internal communications, and understanding internal political dynamics among partner groups. 

  • Demonstrated success in the area of project management, organizing and/or partnership development. 

  • Fundraising experience and demonstrated knowledge of the philanthropic sector. A deep network in philanthropy and a firm understanding of key public policy, research, and movement building efforts in the sector; accurate and current knowledge of trends, movements, and developing policy to inform emerging changemaking opportunities

  • Excellent analytic, writing, and strategic planning skills, and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple, often-conflicting deadlines; establish and negotiate timelines; and ensure timely delivery of high-quality work.

  • Creativity, flexibility, sound judgment, and ability to take initiative and work independently. 

  • Effective interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diverse staff, clients, and consultants across varied geographies. A team player who can add value to the DWP team beyond his/her/their area of expertise.

  • Deep demonstrated passion for and commitment to the DWP’s mission and a track record of driving impact on cross-cutting social justice issues and movement building. A natural disruptor and innovator with the ability to inspire, motivate, generate new ideas and actualize change programmatically and operationally.

  • Outstanding organizational, programmatic, and financial management experience, including the ability to move work from concept to implementation and completion.

  • Models a commitment to creating and reinforcing a transparent, accountable, and mutually respectful work environment.

  • Willingness to travel as needed.

  • A strong sense of passion, purpose, and sense of humor. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
