ABOUT THE POSITION
The Shed seeks a skilled, non-profit finance professional with an appreciation for the arts to join our dynamic, fast-paced, and accomplished team. Successful applicants must be highly detail-oriented, organized, collaborative problem solvers who are driven to creative solutions. The Finance Manager plays a key role in coordinating The Shed’s organizational accounting and is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the general ledger. Each Finance Team member is trained across the department to be able to step in where needed. The Finance Manager will report to the Controller.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to
-Daily management of the general ledger
-Execute month-end close, including preparation of financial reports
-Support the annual budgeting process, quarterly reporting, and annual audit
-Work with Development and Ticketing departments to monitor and reconcile contributions, pledges, and ticket sales revenue
-Manage special events, venue rental, and retail store revenue and reporting
-Prepare short- and long-term cash flow analyses
-Oversee the recording and reconciling of accounts receivable and accrued expenses
-Engage with internal staff for purposes of financial training
-Develop effective and efficient procedures to maximize team resources
-Work closely with the Controller on ad hoc projects
-Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications and Qualities
-BA in accounting or finance or equivalent experience
-Four or more years of non-profit experience
-Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and GAAP
-A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a highly motivated, energetic team
-Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work toward solutions that benefit departments and the organization
-Impeccable attention to detail and excellent organizational, planning, prioritizing, and time management skills
-Strong computer skills essential; intermediate to advanced Excel user
-Experience with advanced general ledger software; preferably Sage Intacct
-Ability to multitask and work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
Compensation
