ABOUT THE POSITION

Position Summary 

We are seeking an energetic self-starter with a collaborative spirit to join the team as an Intern, Nonprofit Effectiveness (NE) for the Spring 2023 term (i.e., March – June 2023), with the possibility for extension through the Summer and/or Fall terms.  

The Nonprofit Effectiveness team strengthens social sector actors’ ability to achieve their missions, through organizational strengthening and strategy services – individually and in peer learning cohorts or communities. The team works directly with nonprofits, as well as their funders, building their capacity to collaboratively accomplish mutually held goals, and achieve maximum community and societal impact. 

This Nonprofit Effectiveness Internship is an excellent opportunity for an individual who has a demonstrated interest in making a social impact. They will have the opportunity to provide operational and analytical support on a range of projects including strategic planning, organizational strengthening, and organizational assessments that enable the Nonprofit Effectiveness team to make positive social change in its work. 

The NE team is primarily based in the New York City office with a hybrid in-office schedule.  We will consider qualified candidates based in other US locations for a remote internship.

Duties and Responsibilities 

The Nonprofit Effectiveness Intern will: 

- Provide day-to-day project support to the Nonprofit Effectiveness team on a range of administrative and analytical projects.  

- Summarize, analyze, and synthesize large sets of qualitative and quantitative data. 

- Support and coordinate the production and dissemination of work products. 

- Contribute to development of innovative, practical frameworks to support various clients’ organizational change processes. 

- Assist with report preparation - formatting, proofreading, and copy-editing, developing content and drafting full report sections. 

Required Qualifications 

- Bachelor’s Degree. 

- Strong interest in social impact and nonprofit sector organizational strengthening. 

- Strong research and analytical skills (including tracking research, cleaning, and coding large sets of data, etc.). 

- Strong written and oral communication skills. 

- Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office and Google Suite. 

- Familiarity and experience with software-based collaboration tools (e.g., Dropbox, Slack, etc.). 

- Strong communicator, able to express complex ideas cogently (in writing and orally). 

- Adaptive, able to work well in a fast-paced environment. 

- Collaborative, able to work productively with teams to achieve a common goal. 

- Highly organized, able to effectively manage multiple, competing priorities. 

- Able to work and problem-solve independently. 

- Customer service-oriented with experience managing sensitive client/customer relationships.
