Young Leadership Associate / PresenTense Coordinator

The Federation’s primary functions are community planning and allocations, financial resource development, and leadership development.

Position Overview:

A strategic team-player with a “can do” attitude, the Young Leadership Associate/PresenTense Coordinator engages and inspires the most creative minds of the next generation, investing in their ideas and energy to revitalize the Jewish community. He/she will work with young adults within the Jewish community to engage their interests and participation in local, national and international Jewish life, helping them find and develop their philanthropic, volunteer, social and/or professional niche. He/she will be responsible for programming, volunteer management, leadership development, fundraising, community engagement and recruitment.

The Young Leadership Associate/PresenTense Coordinator is responsible for strategically managing and coordinating the ConnectGens Fellowship, powered by PresenTense, an accelerator program for social entrepreneurs to help them take their ideas for social change from vision to reality. This includes: programming, volunteer management, recruitment and communicating with various stakeholders of The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington and PresenTense, including funders, mentors, fellows and coaches.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and cultivate personal relationships with local young adults (those in their 20s and 30s) mentoring them on Jewish communal life and connecting them to Federation
  • Maintain a cultivation portfolio of young adults, meeting with at least 12 people face-to-face each month
  • Oversee strategic initiatives to engage young adults in leadership development and philanthropy
  • Initiate new educational programing that interest young people within the scope of Federation
  • Foster existing partnerships with organizations in the community who cater to young adults

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the Jewish community
  • Experience in event coordination and planning
  • Experience with volunteer engagement
  • Fundraising experience
  • Deep and growing connections in the Greater Washington area across Jewish professional lines
  • Exceptional organization and communication skills (both written and oral) with proficiency in English grammar and usage
  • Ability to develop relationships and work with a diverse population
  • Ability to work productively with minimal supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and short deadlines
  • Ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously
  • Strategic thinker, with proven success in strategic marketing, planning and/or analysis
  • Proven ability to oversee projects from concept through execution
  • Interest in social entrepreneurship and a burning desire to change the world

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (preferably communications, public relations or a related field)
  • 2-5 years of related experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
