Program Officer, Social Innovation Fund (TBF)


Position Summary

Support the final year of implementation of the Foundation’s BOSC4C Coaching Model and Social Innovation Fund grant.  This includes leading the Success Boston coaches’ network which provides monthly professional development for over 40 Success Boston coaches, partnering with 5 area institutions of higher education to ensure smooth implementation of coaching, and ensuring that the compliance needs of the final year of the grant are met, including quarterly reporting and close-out activities for the grantees.  The Social Innovation Fund program officer will be a significant contributor to the learning and activities related to the postsecondary success of Boston’s students.

This position is grant funded between September 1, 2018; grant funding for this position will end August 30, 2019.   


Essential Functions

  • Oversee the grants for Social Innovation Fund (SIF) subgrants and contracts, and participates in full programmatic monitoring and support in partnership with and under the supervision of Associate Vice President
  • Organize and coordinate convenings and key networks of external partners, including subgrantees, higher education liaisons and partners, and non-grantee organizations  
  • Oversee postsecondary research projects, and conduct as-needed analysis of key Foundation initiatives, especially related to Success Boston coaching. Conduct regular data gathering, research, and analysis for special projects
  • Ensure the quarterly narrative, data, and financial reporting is completed on time in partnership with the Associate Vice President, finance office, and external partners
  • Manage initiative budgets and as-needed prepare budget, data and grant reports  
  • Develop written materials to support program work, as needed, including policy memos, grants due diligence, and reports, as well as budgets for special projects in the Program Department
  • Coordinate a team of internal and external stakeholders in early childhood, including donors and content experts in health, jobs, education, and others
  • Prepare other written material as needed including memos, research reports, background materials and correspondence, meeting summaries, etc.
  • Serve as key liaison to internal and external partners in planning and implementing events and initiatives
  • Produce regular written updates on the education strategies, key issues facing the community, and the work of the Foundation’s grantees for internal and external distribution
  • Coordinate preparation of departmental reports as needed, including reports to the Program Committee and Board
  • Participate in various other Program department activities as needed.


Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Preparation, Knowledge, Previous Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s highly preferred
  • Understanding of the college access and success landscape in Boston, and Massachusetts, highly preferred
  • 7-10 years of relevant working experience required, teaching experience preferred

  • General knowledge of education issues; specific knowledge of Boston’s education landscape a plus
  • Broad knowledge and experience in project management
