ABOUT THE POSITION
Silicon Valley Community Foundation is excited to announce the creation of a two-year SVCF Fellowship. This new fellowship is meant to provide recent college graduates and early career professionals with an opportunity to learn and train in the field of Philanthropy.
We are seeking fellows who can adapt to the wide and diverse needs of a large philanthropic organization. Fellows will serve as full-time, non-exempt employees and will be placed in different departments in the Philanthropic Partnerships Division throughout the fellowship – Donor Engagement, Corporate Responsibility and Development. They will have a portfolio of work that consists of departmental work and professional development.
The professional development component to the fellowship includes activities such as seminars, mentorship and guidance from the Foundation’s leaders and professional staff, as well as professional learning opportunities. The majority of the fellow’s first year will be spent learning by doing departmental work, learning through a co-planned curriculum and fellowship activities. During the second year, fellows will assume greater responsibility and opportunities on on-going departmental work.
As a cohort, the Fellows will gain a wide range of exposure and professional development in philanthropy, teamwork and project management. The fellowship is cohort-based and supported by a Fellowship Coordinator allowing the Fellows to regularly engage in meaningful learning activities with peers in the program. Fellows are asked to assume leadership roles in the program to actively shape and continually improve their experience. The goal is to move to a pooled, rotational model where all Fellows will spend time in each department to gain exposure to the various areas of philanthropic partnerships.
