Director of Development, Corporate Impact (SL)

Recognizing that talent is everywhere, but resources are not, Seeding Labs mobilizes resources and networks across the global scientific community to equip under-resourced scientists with the tools, training, and connections they need to be on the cutting edge of discovery. Anchored by its flagship Instrumental Access Program, Seeding Labs has provided more than $39 million in reclaimed laboratory equipment and training to 90 institutions in 36 countries. Its TeleScience videos have been used by students, educators, and researchers in more than 140 countries.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Seeding Labs, an award-winning Boston-based nonprofit, seeks a proactive and solutions-focused Director of Development, Corporate Impact (DCI) to drive the organization’s resource development from corporations. This new role will lead the corporate resource development (financial and in-kind) that allow Seeding Labs to pursue its mission of empowering every scientist to transform the world. Scientists supported by Seeding Labs’ Instrumental Access program work on the frontlines of global challenges, from epidemics like COVID-19 to climate-resilient agriculture. Yet these talented researchers lack access to the scientific resources they need. Instrumental Access ensures that scientists and students in developing countries have the tools they need to accelerate life-changing discoveries and train the next generation.

Seeding Labs is joined by a global network of supporters to build strong and sustainable scientific infrastructure in developing countries. To achieve this goal, nearly 200 partners comprising R&;D corporations, manufacturers, nonprofits, and universities are investing their resources of funding, equipment, scientific knowledge, and mentoring.  As a connector of these resources that power scientific innovation, Seeding Labs aligns with its partners’ goals, which span corporate social responsibility; diversity, equity, and inclusion; employee engagement; global health equity; and environmental sustainability. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, and in partnership with the Corporate Relations Manager (CRM), the DCI will lead the development and implementation of a multi-faceted corporate engagement strategy for philanthropic, in-kind, and volunteering support from corporate partners. These efforts will create new pathways for mutually reinforcing partnerships that inspire greater levels of commitment from existing partners and capture the attention of new donors.

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $100,000 to $120,000, dependent on experience. Seeding Labs’ benefits include an 80% employer-contributed health plan or a modest health plan stipend; dental and vision plans; healthcare and daycare flexible spending account; employer-covered life and disability insurance; pre-tax public transportation pass; 401K; and the flexibility to prioritize the ‘life’ side of the work-life balance.
