The Grants Officer is a key position within the Grants Management team, with the primary responsibility of reviewing at least a third of all requests for the Heising-Simons Foundation and its affiliated 501(c)(4) organization, the Heising-Simons Action Fund. This full-time (37.5 hours per week), exempt position, reports to the Director of Grants Management, and will be part of a team that currently consists of five people. This position can be based in our Los Altos or San Francisco office; however, the Foundation will also consider remote candidates. During the COVID-19 pandemic, all Heising-Simons Foundation staff are working remotely. When our offices do re-open, returns will be flexible and gradual to accommodate staff needs.
The Grants Management team ensures scalable, effective, and efficient grantmaking systems and processes and works closely with all departments across the Foundation, especially grantmaking teams, legal counsel, IT, finance, and the executive staff. In 2020, the Grants Management team processed over $140M in over 600 transactions. It is anticipated that the volume and award amount will be about the same for 2021. This mid-level position is an opportunity to apply and build on experience and working knowledge of grantmaking compliance, operations, and technology solutions. Candidates are not expected to have experience in all areas listed in the job description.
COMPENSATION
The starting salary for this position is $95,000 to $110,000 per year, depending on skills and experience. We conduct an annual review of our salary ranges and make adjustments based on data from our peer organizations.
