Financial Analysis & Research Fellow (SGB)

Who We Are

SheGives Boston is a private foundation of passionate, powerful women in the Boston area who have come together to support a broad range of local nonprofit organizations. We are a member-driven foundation, and we speak with a commanding, collective voice.

How It Works

We connect our members to a portfolio of well-regarded, high-impact nonprofits working on a diverse range of issues which have included food rescue, sex trafficking, education, the arts, and science and engineering skills for girls. We provide relevant data about our portfolio and access to nonprofit leadership in intimate settings to inform giving. Our format is simple, strategic and personally driven. Because we give together, our impact is amplified.

Who You Are

SheGives Boston seeks a graduate/MBA student, recent graduate or young professional for a fellowship on our Research Team.  Each fellow will be responsible for research on nonprofits in our predetermined target areas, as well as potentially assisting nominated nonprofits during our data collection process. You will have previous experience through your work or education with financial analysis of organizations including being comfortable reading and analyzing financial statements.  A desire to learn more about analysis of balance sheets and tax returns of nonprofits (if you don’t know how already) is extremely important.

You will also inform board members of goings on in your research through written reports and informal presentations. Ideal candidates will be curious, ambitious, hungry, and eager to gain hands-on experience as well as fly-on-the-wall learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical/research skills.
  • Basic Financial Analysis experience.
  • Comfortable with number crunching.

Expectations & Compensation

Most work will be done remotely, but fellows should be living in the Boston area. You can anticipate a commitment of 10‐15 hours per week, with some weeks being busier than others. You may expect payment in terms of skill development, credibility in the nonprofit/philanthropic space, and access to a network of amazing mentors, coaches, and champions who can open doors for your future job searches and career development. While no stipend is guaranteed, ambitious and well deserving fellows may receive a monetary award based on performance.
