About Girls on the Run of NOVA
At Girls on the Run we envision a world where every girl knows she has the ultimate power to be her best. Using a fun, experience-based curriculum that creatively integrates running, we teach the life skills our girls need to step into the world as strong, confident, healthy women prepared for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Our 10-week, 20 session program is offered before or after school at over 150 school and community sites across the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William and Loudoun Counties and the cities of Falls Church, Manassas, Manassas Park and Alexandria reaching nearly 5,000 girls every year, and growing. Led by 750 volunteer coaches, Girls on the Run builds social emotional skills in girls in 3-5th grade, while our Heart & Sole program engages girls in 6-8th grade. Each age appropriate program integrates training for the Girls on the Run 5k as a way of practicing achievement.
At Girls on the Run, we believe the promise of the program should be available to every girl who needs it and to any girl who wants it. Our commitment to serving all girls means that a third of our program sites are in communities with the fewest resources, and nearly 50% of our girls receive some sort of financial assistance or fee subsidy to participate in the program. Over the next five years, Girls on the Run of NOVA will significantly increase our saturation in Loudoun and Prince William Counties, doubling the number of participants eligible for financial aid, all while sustaining impact in our anchoring communities.
This position is an opportunity for an experienced leader to help drive transformative growth at a critical moment for a growing organization. The Executive Director will execute a strategy for an ambitious organizational growth agenda, doubling the contributed income expectations over the next four years to over $800,000 annually, starting from a $1.2 million budget, a team of 8, and a Board of 15. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of the nonprofit landscape in Northern Virginia and the unique needs of our five-county service area.
