In 2018, on every 4th Tuesday of the month, different members of our EPIP St. Louis community will lead monthly discussion on a particular topic or article. Bring a lunch, grab a friend and come prepared to meet new people and discuss ways to move the sector forward.
This month’s discussion, facilitated by Yetunde Ogunfidodo, Program Manager at Regional Arts Commission, will reflect on Vu Le’s article “Progressive Funders, You May be Part of the Problem”. Vu Le works at a Seattle-based non-profit and writes here about the dynamics between funders and grantees. In his article, he references The Whitman Institute’s Trust-Based Grantmaking Model which asserts that philanthropy can be more effective when trusting nonprofits to do the work and supporting them in more flexible ways. Join us as we take a deeper look at how we manage relationships with grantees and ask critical questions about how philanthropy might be "part of the problem".
