Please join us for this epic celebration of music, art and culture as we discuss Decolonizing Wealth and healing pathways for racial and economic justice, with author and philanthropist, Edgar Villanueva.
Decolonizing Wealth NOLA will feature special guest, actress Dawn-Lyen Gardner! Dawn-Lyen has left an indelible mark on viewers as Charley Bordelon in the critically-acclaimed TV series QUEEN SUGAR, created by Ava DuVernay and executive produced by Oprah Winfrey. A Juilliard-trained actor and former teaching artist, her creative work has long intersected with her advocacy work, which has ranged from youth arts empowerment to advancing gender equity to racial justice organizing. She is a proud member of social justice collective HARNESS - founded by America Ferrera, Ryan Piers Williams and Wilmer Valderrama in response to the 2016 election - whose members work to center marginalized communities in pop culture. In 2018, Dawn-Lyen became an official ambassador for women’s empowerment organization Women for Women International. She recently spoke at the 2018 FACING RACE National Conference and at the 2019 Othering and Belonging Conference in Oakland, CA. Dawn-Lyen is thrilled to now be working with JLove Calderón, Matt McGorry, Edgar Villanueva and the entire team at Inspire Justice.
