This workshop will cover the various types of facilitation and communication challenges emerging grantmakers and philanthropic leaders encounter, from running a site visit to collaborating with peers. Participants will hear from Mae Hong, Vice President of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors and learn tactics for improving facilitation and communication skills.
This workshop is part of EPIP Chicago Tool-Kit for New Philanthropic Leaders series.
The Tool-Kit for New Philanthropic Leaders is a series of workshops built around EPIP’s Measuring a Leader program, designed to encourage emerging philanthropy professionals to develop skills and values necessary to be effective leaders in building a just, equitable and sustainable society.
Featuring Mae Hong, Vice President, Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors
Mae opened the Chicago office of RPA in the fall of 2009. In this role she is responsible for building RPA's presence in serving individual donors, foundations and corporations throughout the Midwest. Bringing 18 years of nonprofit and philanthropy experience to RPA, she previously served as Program Director at the Field Foundation of Illinois. her funding expertise includes children, youth and families; poverty alleviation; women and girls' issues; and advocacy. She has also been actively involved in RPA's leadership on the issue of diversity in philanthropy. Mae actively participates in local and national philanthropic associations and networks, serving in leadership roles on committees, engaging in public speaking opportunities, and facilitating planning and execution of philanthropic initiatives. She currently serves on the boards of Grantmakers for Effective Organizations, the Illinois Humanities Council and the Daystar Center. She is a past chair of the board of Chicago Foundation for Women.
