June 15th, 6:00- 7:30 PM ET - Zoom
In Rest Is Resistance, Tricia Hersey (aka The Nap Bishop) disrupts and pushes back against capitalism, white supremacy, and grind culture, by “connecting to the liberating power of rest, daydreaming, and naps, as a foundation for healing and justice.” In this manifesto centered in Black liberation, she shows us how our worth does not reside in how much we produce and how rest “becomes an act of resistance and reclaiming of power because it asserts our basic humanity.”
Come engage in community discussion with the EPIP Boston chapter during a two-part engagement! On Thursday June 15th from 6pm - 7:30pm ET we will kick off the book club with a community discussion that explores this book, our relationship with rest, and the implications this work can have for our lives. The second engagement (details TBD) will be a panel style discussion where we discuss how this call for rest and resisting grind culture can be applied to our work in the philanthropic and nonprofit sector.
The Boston Chapter of EPIP is excited to present this offering and would like to make the program accessible to attendees by purchasing books for registrants if they are interested. By registering for this program you are committing to reading part of or all of the book and attending at least the first discussion. To create an intimate space for discussion there will be a registration cap of 25 attendees. If you are interested, sign up ASAP! Attendees to the first session will receive a goodie bag of self care products.
Please RSVP by Friday, May 5th to receive a free copy of the book! Following your registration, EPIP Boston will send you a form to fill out so that we may gather your mailing information for the goodie bag and your copy of the reading.
