Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager

Organization Description:

Horizons for Homeless Children (Horizons) is a local non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of young homeless children in Massachusetts and helping their families succeed by providing high-quality early education, opportunities for play, and comprehensive family support services. To support our mission, we also advocate on behalf of young children, train educators and human services providers, and conduct research on the impact of early education on homeless children.

Summary of Position:

The Corporate and Foundation Relations Manager is a member of a highly skilled and productive team of fundraising professionals working together to improve the lives of homeless children and their families. S/he is responsible for researching and writing grant proposals and applications, and aiding in the implementation of strategy for the achievement of Horizons’ corporate and foundation fundraising goals. S/he will also help to maintain corporate relationships and coordinate corporate volunteering activity. S/he must be an extremely strong writer, and be able to compassionately communicate about the issue of homeless children and families, Horizons’ high-quality programs, and the need for funding. 


  • Work closely with Managing Director of Development to develop and implement overall C&F strategy
  • Assist with the development of work plans to implement strategy and achieve Horizons’ C&F fundraising goals
  • Help to identify and cultivate new and existing corporate and foundation donors
  • Research, identify and pursue well-aligned grant opportunities
  • Manage reports and related correspondence for corporate and foundation donors and prospects
  • Maintain a calendar of all proposal and report deadlines
  • Assist with the coordination of corporate volunteer activities
  • Track all corporate and foundation activities
  • Prepare reports
  • Work with program and marketing staff to ensure the inclusion of accurate and appropriate information in all grant requests and reports


  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 2+ years of successful grant writing experience and work with corporations and foundations
  • Energetic, positive candidate who is adept at conveying compelling requests
  • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Solid research skills a strong plus
  • Knowledge of state and national foundation/corporate communities
  • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database a plus
