Convening and Coalition Coordinator (CHANGE)

The Coalition & Convening Coordinator supports CHANGE Philanthropy to advance goals and strategies and will play a role in deepening the coalition efforts. The position is responsible for coordinating operations and partner engagement logistics for CHANGE Philanthropy partners. The position is also the Unity Summit planning coordinator working with the CHANGE Philanthropy Unity Summit Planning Committee and event planning consultants.  The position will report to the National Director/Coalition Catalyst of CHANGE Philanthropy.

Essential Functions:

Convening Coordination (40%)

  • Work with the coalition staff team and partners to develop and monitor Unity Summit timelines, activities, and outcomes.
  • Develop, refine, and maintain systems to track the overall process of Unity Summit planning activities. 
  • Maintain records on the work and decisions of the Unity Summit Planning Committee. 
  • Assist in the coordination of planning committee meetings and disseminate materials prior to meetings.
  • Be well versed and comfortable with inclusive, equitable strategy and practice.
  • Report to the community coalition on progress toward achieving goals and objectives of strategies and work plans.
  • Serve as CHANGE Philanthropy Planning Committee liaison with the event planning consultants.
  • Cooperate with Research & Communications Director to promote and publicize events.
  • Proactively handle and troubleshoot any issues as they arise.

 

Coalition Coordination (40%)

  • Provide or coordinate services, implement activities, and provide coalition support with the guidance of the coalition catalyst.
  • Work with the coalition staff team and CHANGE partners to develop and monitor project objectives and outcomes.
  • Understand and be able to articulate the history, framework, process, and requirements of the coalition members.
  • Track the overall process to guide and continue the development and evolution of the coalition.
  • Maintain records on the work and decisions of the coalition.
  • Ensure reporting is completed by required deadlines.
  • Assist in the coordination of coalition meetings and disseminate materials prior to meetings.
  • Report to the community coalition on progress toward achieving the goals and objectives of strategies and work plans.
  • Support Research & Communications Director on community outreach and engagement efforts (presentations, newsletter, volunteer recruitment, etc.).
  • Support CHANGE Philanthropy Partners in scheduling and administrative needs.
  • Perform general administrative duties (communications, mail, copying, filing, etc.) related to achieving organizational goals.

 

Administrative Support  (20%)

  • Maintain electronic files, update contact database, and perform light bookkeeping.
  • Liaise with outside vendors to order supplies, products, and services and maintain those relationships to ensure smooth operating of office systems.
  • Process contracts and scope-of-work documents for consultants engaged in contract work.
  • Provide administrative support as necessary for project consultants.
  • Provide support as necessary with additional needs.

Desired Experience, and Knowledge:

  • Five years of event planning and/or project management experience required.
  • Experience working on issues of organizational inclusion practices and racial equity in the nonprofit and/or philanthropic sector.
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and campaign coordination skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a desire and ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • A reputation for being thoughtful and insightful, a fast learner, flexible and dynamic with the ability to adapt and iterate to changing or ambiguous circumstances.
  • The ability to anticipate, appreciate, and reconcile diverse and complex perspectives.
  • Excellent time management skills, and the ability to work in small, virtual teams that span time zones.
  • Strong communications skills, including writing and editing for print, web and social media.
  • Technology expertise, encompassing Microsoft Office, WordPress, and design software.

Job Specifics and Work Environment

This position is full time (40 hours per week) and is non-exempt. Travel required 4-6 times per year.
 

Starting salary range is $65,000 – $75,000 annually depending on qualifications and experience. CHANGE Philanthropy provides medical, dental, vision, and generous vacation leave. The position is remote.
