The Annual Giving Manager plays a crucial role in building community through philanthropy to support the mission of The Walker School. This person is responsible for designing and implementing strategies to sustain and strengthen The Walker Fund among various constituent groups, including parents, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, and faculty/staff.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Annual Giving Manager plays a crucial role in building community through philanthropy to support the mission of The Walker School. This person is responsible for designing and implementing strategies to sustain and strengthen The Walker Fund among various constituent groups, including parents, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, and faculty/staff.

 

QUALIFYING CHARACTERISTICS

The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented self starter who can work both independently and collaboratively with development team colleagues to meet fundraising goals. The candidate will have well-developed interpersonal skills and be comfortable cultivating relationships with parent, alumni, student, faculty, and staff constituents to advance annual fundraising efforts. The candidate should possess a creative and innovative mindset with a forward-thinking approach to philanthropy, along with the ability to perform in a dynamic work environment, successfully managing projects and working with a high degree of attention to detail. In addition, the candidate should have a record of successfully recruiting, training, and managing volunteers from diverse backgrounds. The candidate should have a commitment to The Walker School's mission and values and be willing to serve as an ambassador for the school both internally and externally.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Communicate effectively how annual giving supports The Walker School's mission and core values.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Development to design, implement, and manage a comprehensive, proactive plan focused on retaining and expanding the donor base and increasing individual annual support of The Walker Fund.
  • Draft, design, and oversee production of digital, print, and video appeals for The Walker Fund as part of a multi-channel solicitation approach for all Walker constituencies, including faculty/staff, parents, alumni, parents of alumni, and grandparents.
  • Serve as the primary coordinator of annual giving events, including Walker Fund kick-off and stewardship events, such as the Leadership Society Dinner, Head of School Meet and Greets, and other on-campus events.
  • Target, segment, and solicit annual giving donors and prospective donors
  • Mobilize and manage The Walker Fund volunteer committee for parent engagement and participation among all constituent groups.
  • Work with school staff to increase alumni giving through volunteer leadership, reunion giving, individual cultivation, and prospect management.
  • Coordinate with development colleagues on potential major gifts/leadership donor prospects based on prospect research and screenings.
  • Assist with timely and effective stewardship, recognition, and impact reporting.

 

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum Two Years of Fundraising Experience, preferably in an independent school or higher education setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with Google Suite
  • Experience with Client Relationship Management systems, preferably Blackbaud Raiser's Edge
