Program Analyst

ABOUT THE POSITION

About the position

The Program Analyst is responsible for planning, analysis, and implementation for projects that span across the Foundation’s Programs. They may range from Program operations support, planning and analysis, and special projects to departmental coordination. The role also supports the implementation of operational projects that link across Programs and the Social Investments Practice and/or Strategic Learning, Research, and Evaluation (“L&E”). 

This position is a two-year appointment with the possibility of an additional one-year extension (based on performance and Foundation need).

Primary responsibilities

  1. Serve as overall project manager and coordinator for the Programs Department team, keeping current with tasks for each activity, including dates and deliverables, meeting agendas, and notes.
  2. Support and/or lead on specific projects that contribute to improvement across Program teams. Additional support projects that sit at the intersection of link across Programs and the Social Investments Practice and/or Learning and Evaluation. 
  3. Monitor and drive program timelines, board deadlines, key dates, upcoming events, and meeting planning.
  4. Review department objectives and work plans regularly and suggests operational innovations to maximize efficiency and efficacy.
  5. Serve as interface and logistics point person to internal and external stakeholders including contractors.
  6. Coordinate activities such as lunch and learns, program forums, program retreats, projects related to cross-cutting issues and visits from external guests.
  7. Undertake research and prepare written reports and presentations for speeches, Board-related content, and other cross-cutting issues.
  8. Assist with budget management and tracking, including:
  9. Analyzing, assembling, and tracking financial information to provide ongoing support and ensure overall operations are within budget.
  10. Monitoring budget allocations, expenditures, and related financial activities to ensure all allocations and expenses are accurate. 
  11. Collaborating with internal personnel (e.g., Managing Directors, Finance Department) to implement and maintain budgets. 
  12. Facilitate active communication between Program the Executive Office to ensure effective and efficient workflow. 
  13. Assemble Board materials adhering to the process and deadlines set by the Executive Office.
  14. Maintain and update Program document management systems.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required. 
  • Minimum 2 years of professional work in the nonprofit sector, philanthropy, management consulting, strategy consulting, or other related area.
  • Demonstrated interest in community development, public administration, and/or urban planning.
  • Working knowledge of one or more of the Foundation’s Program areas desirable.        

Skills

  • Strong project management skills and the ability to chart one’s own direction collaboratively.
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills to effectively communicate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including executive team members.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Effective time management skills, with demonstrated ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with many personalities and successfully navigate organizational work culture
  • Strong customer service orientation for engaging with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and partners. 
  • Strong ability to solve problems creatively; takes initiative.  
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team. 
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
