Foundation Partnerships Manager

Muso believes no one should die waiting for health care. We build health systems to save lives by reaching patients faster, within hours of the moment they become sick. To do this, we partner with communities facing extreme poverty. Muso has spent more than a decade creating and improving our Proactive Care model, preparing it to serve the global effort for universal health care. We have documented rapid health improvements across the populations we serve: a 2018 study found that communities we reach in Mali, which previously saw some of the world’s highest child mortality rates, sustained child mortality rates lower than any country in sub-Saharan Africa for five years, and ultimately reached a rate on par with that of the United States. Patient access to care increased tenfold. Muso now serves the governments of Mali and Côte d’Ivoire and global partners in their efforts to translate the results of this research into policy and practice at scale.

We provide proactive health care to 400,000 patients in Mali and Côte d’Ivoire and are growing to serve 650,000 patients across these two countries in the coming years. We embed rigorous academic research and strategic advocacy to identify and share strategies that can accelerate global efforts for child survival, maternal health, and universal health care. Given the transformations in health care access and survival Muso has documented, our direct service, research, and advocacy will work to advance a new model of care for community health systems. ABOUT THE POSITION

We are working to raise $70M over the next three years to care for up to one million patients across two to three countries and improve care for tens of millions of people through changes in global policy and practice. Foundation and corporate (F&C) funding partnerships form the backbone of Muso’s revenue. We are seeking a Foundation Partnerships Manager to execute strategy for this revenue stream, and additionally provide strategic input to the Head of Foundation Partnerships (HFP) as it grows. The FPM will steward and expand F&C partnerships by managing a current portfolio that is progressively transitioned to them, building a pipeline of new prospects who will give $25k-$500k/year, engaging with partners and prospects, and maintaining a culture of reliability, rigor, and thoughtful engagement with our F&C partners. They will collaborate within and beyond Muso’s development and communications department to craft engaging ways to share our work with funders, and leverage internal systems to monitor and deepen partnerships.

The FPM will focus on engaging with foundation partners which prioritize long-term, unrestricted giving and other transformative funding practices. Many of these funders have been instrumental to Muso’s growth to-date. This role will be tasked with leading strategy for these partnerships, taking on work and deploying our senior team as needed to deepen current relationships and to identify opportunities for growth with aligned funders. To this effort, the FPM will bring strategic thinking, top-notch communication and relationship management skills, and reliable, rigorous follow-through—in other words, an ability to balance the ideas, interactions, and important details. This role will report to Muso's Head of Foundation Partnerships.
