Culture Surge is a broad coalition of artists and change-makers led and driven by the needs and voices of women of color, we center the vision of artists, and we work in close partnership with frontline social justice groups. Culture Surge is focusing on high-impact projects that embrace this moment for innovation by providing artist-driven digital content and a coherent national electoral cultural strategy towards generating enthusiasm amongst hard-to-reach audiences and

engaging them in collective, nonpartisan action.

Culture Surge is uniquely positioned to serve as a coordinating partner for the field. We built a strong foundation for collaborative work through key pieces of field infrastructure that were tested and evolved in 2020. In 2022 we will expand on the 2020 efforts utilizing our extensive evaluation and insight from our anchor institutions and coalition members’ work and support new collaborations for high-impact projects among our coalition members.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Culture Surge is seeking a creative, strategic, and dynamic team member to serve as Strategic Communications Manager. The ideal candidate is passionate about cultural organizing and social justice. This candidate has demonstrated success in communications campaign design; has an in-depth understanding of social media platforms, tools and analytics related to both organic and paid content planning; and knowledge of current and emerging online trends. The Strategic Communications Manager oversees Culture Surge’s content development and

communications campaigns. The Strategic Communications Manager will be the second member of the team and will reports directly to the Executive Director.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about authentic multi-racial democracy, and that believes stories change people, and people make change. We are a building organization with creative and audacious goals, and the right fit will be someone who feels inspired managing multiple projects and priorities.
