Senior Director of Programs

The Senior Director of Programs at the Melville Charitable Trust will lead efforts to end homelessness and advance housing justice through strategic grantmaking, partnerships, and advocacy. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, they will shape key initiatives, manage a growing portfolio of housing justice grants, and evaluate the Trust’s investments to maximize impact. This role focuses on developing innovative models to strengthen housing stability, address systemic racial inequities, and drive strategies that protect, preserve, and produce affordable housing. By identifying emerging opportunities and fostering cross-sector collaborations, the Senior Director will enhance the Trust’s ability to create lasting, equitable change.

The ideal candidate will be a thought leader with deep expertise in housing justice, a strong network in the field, and a commitment to ensuring historically marginalized communities have access to safe, stable, and affordable housing. They will oversee the Trust’s data-driven impact strategy, leveraging research and evaluation to inform grantmaking and policy recommendations in this sector. Additionally, the Senior Director will serve as a key representative of the Trust, engaging stakeholders, shaping broader housing justice strategies, and amplifying the organization’s influence in the philanthropic and policy arenas.
