Are you an EPIP member? Log in and go here to purchase discounted tickets.

Skillful collaboration is facilitated by an open mind and heart, keen powers of observation of self and others, compassionate communication, a whole-systems view and a willingness to witness and experience transformation. This workshop will promote these qualities while seeking to enhance leadership skills, self-awareness and a capacity to contribute to positive change at any scale. Participants will be introduced to a variety of facilitation skills and tools through both presentation and hands-on exercises. We will explore facilitative approaches to implicit bias, transgressions and managing difficult conversations related to diversity, inclusion and equity. We will also make space to discuss ways that we can intervene as participants and facilitators when our meetings’ dynamics mirror the racism or other forms of oppression found in the greater society.

By practicing presence, expanding our awareness of self and others and unlocking our creativity, we can realize our potential as inspired and skillful facilitators.

Participants can expect to:
(1) Explore and better understand the role of a facilitator and core facilitative practices;
(2) Learn to imaginatively embrace emergence in unpredictable meetings;
(3) Learn about compassionate communication skills, group culture and ground rules;
(4) Be introduced to a practical and comprehensive facilitator’s tool box; and
(5) Learn strategies to address hurtful transgressions in group work.

The workshop will be facilitated by Adam Wolpert. Adam is a facilitator, educator and fine artist. He leads workshops in group process and has worked as a facilitator with many institutes, communities, organizations and foundations since 1994. In the last 15 years, he has designed and led multiple workshops and trainings in creative collaborative leadership and systems thinking as it relates to group work. Adam has also taught workshops in building and sustaining community and has lived in an intentional community for over 25 years. Adam is a co-founder of OAEC (www.oaec.org) an organization that focuses on cultivating ecological literacy and building the capacity of civic and social movement leaders and organizations to guide their communities toward an ecologically regenerative, economically viable, and socially just future.

Breakfast and networking will begin at 9:00 a.m. Workshop will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will run for four (4) hours until 1:30 p.m., including a working lunch.
