End of Year Social

What a year it's been! Send off 2020 with some much-needed connection and fun for renewed energy and hope in 2021. Hosted by EPIP DC, Boston, NYC, and Philadelphia, this social will bring together philanthropy professionals from multiple geographies to get to know each other, unwind, and try something new!

The evening will kick off at 6:00PM with a meet and greet at small virtual tables with fellow philanthropy professionals--you can move from table to table like an in-person social! At 6:20PM we will formally welcome everyone followed by 45-minutes of activities in small breakout rooms, including yoga, wine tasting, games, and a State of the Field update from Candid.

Activities are first come, first serve, and you may engage in multiple activities as space allows! More details below.

EPIP chapter hosts are excited to celebrate participants with philanthropy-inspired prizes to wrap up the night.

Please note the email you use to register for this event must be used to later access the event platform, Remo.

We are excited to welcome the following special guests to the social!

  1. Yoga with Yemie Sonuga
  2. Wine Tasting with Tia Subramanian - This session will focus on wines to pair with holiday meals.

For many, December means occasions that call for multi-hour, multi-dish meals with many palates to please. Though gatherings might look different this year, the majority of us will still be keeping up the food traditions. So how do you go about picking wines for holiday meals? During this session, we’ll look at some of the factors that should guide your wine choices and together taste a few wines that exemplify the characteristics that make them good pairings for holiday meals.

Participants are invited to obtain one or more of the following wines to taste and discuss during the tasting:

  • Lambrusco and/or Lambrusco Rosé (ask for a dry bottle)
  • Rosé, still or sparkling - ask your wine shop to recommend something earthy and dry. For still versions, Italian rosatos are often a good bet.
  • Cru Beaujolais. This is not the sweet Beaujolais Nouveau you may know. The region of Beaujolais in France has 10 sites that make wonderful, high-quality dry wines. Look for a bottle labeled any of the following: Fleurie, Morgon, Régnié, Juliénas, Côte de Brouilly, Brouilly, Saint Amour, Chénas, Chiroubles, or Moulin-â-Vent.
  • Riesling. Ask for a dry version if you don’t like sweet wines. You can find great examples from the Mosel region in Germany, the Finger Lakes in New York, and Alsace in France.
  • Pinot Noir from Oregon. It can be from other places but ask for a fruity, low-tannin bottle.
  • Red from the Loire Valley. Look for a bottle labeled Saumur, Cheverny, Bourgeuil, Touraine, or Sancerre.

    3. State of the Field with Candid’s Sarina Dayal - Receive an update on the state of the philanthropic sector and where funding is going as we think about targeting our efforts and funding for 2021
