The grantmaking officer is expected to be a proactive ambassador for Bush Foundation, consistently seeking out opportunities to listen to and learn from diverse community voices. By fostering authentic connections and building mutual trust, the grantmaking officer helps ensure that the Foundation’s work is grounded in the real needs and aspirations of the people it serves. This approach not only strengthens the relevance of Bush’s grantmaking but also enhances its ability to make meaningful, lasting impact in partnership with communities throughout the region.
Experience reviewing grant applications and proposals is required, with the demonstrated ability to apply research-informed, analytical thinking to a criteriabased grant selection process. Other requirements include at least five years’ experience in public, nonprofit or related private sector field, including significant experience building and maintaining effective partnerships in the region served by Bush.
To be considered, candidates must reside within the Foundation’s supported region and bring a strong regional network, knowledge of the region, and/or familiarity with Bush Foundation’s program and strategies. Experience with rural areas, Native communities, and Greater Minnesota is especially valued.
The Bush Foundation’s main office is in Saint Paul, MN. Twin Cities-based staff are required to work onsite each Wednesday with one additional designated in-person day each month.
This role is an individual contributor and reports to the grantmaking director, Ramla Bile.
