About C4Q

C4Q is transforming the tech industry by empowering underserved, low-income, and underrepresented communities with skills, networks, and opportunity through its innovative Access Code program. This intensive 10-month program in mobile and web development prepares participants with no prior coding experience for entry-level developer jobs at the hundreds of innovative startups and tech companies that are looking to hire the next generation of talent.

Position Summary:

The Head of Industry Readiness and Student Success is responsible for career readiness and student job placements. He or she designs and implements curriculum for students to develop the career readiness skills they need to find, secure, and retain tech jobs. These skills include but are not limited to interviewing, resume-writing, development of a personal brand, and knowledge of the tech and entrepreneurship landscapes. Finally, the Head of Industry Readiness and Student Success supports students through their transition from Access Code to the tech industry by creating and implementing programs that connect students with jobs, internships, and other career opportunities.

C4Q works with leading business and philanthropic organizations to build an innovative, inclusive, and diverse Queens tech community.

Responsibilities

 Drive the success of Access Code graduates by promoting career readiness:

  • Design and implement career readiness curricula to prepare students to find, secure, and retain tech jobs
  • Develop training materials for C4Q team members to execute placement and career readiness initiatives
  • Recruit and facilitate guest speakers, workshops, and site visits for students
  • Promote the placement of each Access Code graduate to various prospective employers
  • Lead and coordinate the placement of Access Code graduates into jobs that suit their skills and interests
  • Help develop metrics to measure the impact of both our curriculum and teaching methodologies
  • Continue relationships with Access Code alumni, including tracking alumni outcomes
  • Collaborate with leadership team members to resource and plan for Access Code generally

 Manage and develop high-level partnerships:

  • Manage relationships with a large network of tech companies and organizations
  • Build and expand tech industry and company relationships
  • Maintain knowledge of all job requirements to facilitate the placement of graduates in appropriate positions
  • Focus on tech industry and funding trends, to find the jobs before they are posted
  • Find and build relevant relationships with hiring managers to best match companies and grads for full time, apprentice or contract positions

 Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the technical world; previous industry related experience
  • Project management experience; able to plan and implement large-scale initiatives
  • Previous curriculum writing and teaching experience a plus
  • Awareness of job market & breadth of opportunities
  • Extremely organized and data conscious
  • Forward-thinking and able to think across different disciplines
  • Able to communicate precisely and effectively, both verbally and in written form
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • High emotional intelligence
  • Strong work ethic
  • Nice to Have (not necessary): Experience working at a startup or tech company
