Theme

Our conference theme, R/evolution, recognizes and honors the evolution of EPIP and the sector over the last 20 years along with the movement moment that EPIP members and foundations are navigating here and now - the revolution. As EPIP celebrates its 20th anniversary, we continue to reimagine philanthropy so that it better nurtures and uplifts emerging Black, Indigenous, queer, trans, disabled, immigrant, women, and POC practitioners who are themselves reimagining an equitable and justice-driven future of philanthropy.

R/evolution is for everyone, whether you’re brand new to philanthropy or a returning alum looking to come home to your people. There has never been a better – and more urgent – time to celebrate and invest in the leadership of imaginative, resilient, and bold leaders in philanthropy.

We invite you to join us as we explore three conference tracks within this theme: Rewrite (elevating the forgotten histories of giving and philanthropy in communities of color), Rebuild (advancing transformative work in the sector), and Renew (viewing healing as an integral part of liberation). Programming Overview

One of the guiding principles of our R/evolution programming is connection and content. After more than a year working from home, navigating uncertainty in and out of the workplace, and grappling with unprecedented grief, we invite you to use R/evolution as a place for both healing and learning, reflection and direction, knowledge and joy. R/evolution will include a bit of everything - skill-building sessions, thought-provoking plenaries, identity-based healing spaces, intentional networking opportunities, and spaces for celebration. We have designed R/evolution to rekindle your spirit, develop your leadership, and inspire a recommitment to what philanthropy is and could be.

What does that mean in practice? It means that at R/evolution, you can feel the rhythm at our 20th-anniversary dance party, get a social justice and philanthropy history loss with a sneak preview of our Philanthropology curriculum, meet with peers and partners in the work at our Chapter Leader Institute or CHANGE Philanthropy partner gathering, listen to a plenary discussion of what it will take to make the future truly equitable, attend a deep dive for our communities of practice, and more. Click here to register.

Celebrate EPIP's 20th Anniversary

The 2021 EPIP National Conference is one of the highlights of EPIP's 20th anniversary, but it is far from the only one. EPIP 20@21: Re/Imagine celebrates 20 years of passionate early- and mid-career philanthropic leaders working together to change the philanthropic sector for the better. It's also been an opportunity for EPIP to launch new initiatives that will help us build towards the next 20 years of philanthropy, many of which will be highlighted at the conference.

During this year's conference, we'll be inviting many of our OGs (Original Grantmakers) to join us as thought leaders and to celebrate with us on the virtual dance floor, previewing our Philanthropology curriculum, and giving members of our three communities of practice (two of which are new this year) an opportunity to co-create the future of their spaces. We'll also be asking all participants to think about what they envision for the next 20 years of philanthropy. Let's reimagine together.
