Offsite: Music of Our Communities - Arts and Social Change

A few spots remain for this offsite experience! The online registration is now closed. Please sign up at the registration table at the EPIP 2016 Conference.

With BSO OrchKids and Peabody Conservatory’s Daniel Trahey, Social Activist, Educator, Musician

How do world-class musical institutions support social change? Join Dan Trahey, Director of the BSO program OrchKids, for a student-led exercise and discussion of the role of the Symphony in supporting community voice. The discussion will cover issues including building credibility with communities, talking about racial, gender and socio-economic issues in program development and fundraising, the relationship between music and activism, and why many arts-driven programs fail. Participants will come away with a greater sense of the ins and outs of managing an arts-based program in a complex and sometimes politically-charged environment.

This session replaces the previously scheduled experience with Exit The Apple, which unfortunately has been cancelled.

Organized by EPIP Member Alison McNeil, McNeil Creative Enterprises
