Debuted at our 2016 Conference in Baltimore, we will have several group healing sessions which are custom designed to serve different racial/ethnic identity groups.

Offsite Learning Experiences


We will have several opportunities for Offsite Learning Experiences in Detroit. The experiences listed below are co-created by members of the EPIP 2018 Planning Committee, working in close collaboration EPIP staff and local leaders. 

Note: All Learning Tours will occur on Monday, July 30, 2018 from 1:00pm - 4:30pm. 

  • From Growing our Economy to Growing our Souls: Economic Justice & Activism in Detroit 
    Take a tour of Detroit's East Side, to learn about the history of Detroit's economic rise and fall as told from residents who are shifting and reshaping the dominant narrative around Detroit's revitalization.
  • Feed the People to Free the People: Environmental Justice for Communities of Color
    Take a tour of one Detroit's urban farms to learn more about community-led efforts to address food insecurity and access to clean water.
  • Building an Inclusive and Global City: Immigration & Refugee Justice 
    This tour will explore Detroit's efforts to support its immigrant and refugee community as part of an ongoing commitment to become a more inclusive, diverse, and global city.
