Director of Board Engagement (PPNYC)

Planned Parenthood of New York City is seeking a Director of Board Engagement to join our team. This position is based at our Executive Office located at 26 Bleecker Street, New York, NY 10012.

What the Director of Board Engagement does

  • Develops strategies and implementation plans for enhancing the effectiveness of the Boards of Directors of three growing, dynamic and affiliated entities: PPNYC, PPNYC Action Fund, and PPNYC Political Committee
  • Builds and stewards relationships with key stakeholders to support innovation and sustainability
  • Plays a leadership role in planning, developing and staffing programs designed to engage a range of constituencies, including Directors, Board Alumni, prospective Board members (short and long term), advocates, donors and partner organizations
  • Works closely with President and CEO and Leadership Team on all matters related to Board development, governance and engagement


We’re seeking candidates who have

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience
  • A proven track record of strong and operational leadership in a C-suite setting, including work with Boards of Directors
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and written/verbal skills
  • Strong analytical/research skills and quick/concise writing abilities
  • Demonstrated success with project management and Board relations
  • Ability to communicate with tact and discretion and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality
  • Extraordinary judgment and the ability to coordinate multiple, unrelated details and projects simultaneously
  • Enthusiasm about a fast-paced, ever-changing, innovative environment
  • An eagerness to learn new things and openness to evolving responsibilities
  • A sense of humor!
