Job Summary:

The Development officer oversees all foundation, corporate, government, and individual donations made to the Zenith Education Group, in addition to managing select ECMC grants. This is limited term grant funded position ending December 31, 2018.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Grants Management

  • Coordinate with relevant Zenith employees to ensure content in grant proposals is accurate, dynamic, and current
  • Work closely with Zenith Education Group and ECMC Group administrative services (especially Zenith Education Group finance) to coordinate the implementation of grant-funded projects
  • Assist Zenith grantees in complying with grant agreements and ensure the grantees are meeting foundation, legal, compliance, tax, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with Zenith project leaders to maintain accurate progress and budgetary records
  • Establish and maintain recordkeeping and filing systems including grants management software for Zenith Education Group donations and grants
  • Maintain accurate grants calendar and track grantee activities, progress, and deadlines,
  • Produce reports and conduct site visits as needed and ensure compliance with reporting and evaluation requirements
  • Stay current with best practices in grants management
  • Comply with all Zenith and ECMC Group Policies
  • Communications
  • Provide information to update the website as needed, to include but not limited to, posting of stories about grant-funding and grant-funded projects
  • Maintain ECMC/ZEG intranet and digital signage with up-to-date information as necessary

Development

  • Design and launch Zenith Education Group’s fundraising strategy
  • Steward current relationships and identify and approach new prospects for cultivation and solicitation of major gifts
  • Develop and write clear and compelling grant proposals, concept papers, and letters of inquiry that articulate the value of the Zenith Education Group’s mission, vision, and programs
  • Manage strong and positive relationships with funders through timely, well-written progress and annual grant reports
  • Strategize with ZEG management for grant-funded opportunities from other philanthropic foundations and corporations
  • Collaborate with the ECMC Foundation for ease of funding directed towards the Zenith Education Group

Qualifications

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Data management, relationship building, and strong writing skills
  • 4+ years related work experience

Preferred:

  • Foundation and government fundraising experience
  • Proven track record in prospect management and solicitation of foundation and corporate gifts
  • In depth experience with grants management and complex data systems
  • Master’s or other post-graduate degree in an applicable field

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of word processing operations, database management, and spreadsheet software
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to achieve goals and make decisions
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Outlook, and database management
  • Capacity to manage competing priorities and handle multiple tasks/projects concurrently
  • Excellent attention to detail, data management, and recordkeeping
  • Ability to regularly communicate progress to appropriate stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively summarize complex data from multiple sources
