As the philanthropic sector grapples with our role in promoting equity, it is critical that staff, particularly emerging leaders, have the resources and support needed to advocate internally for more equitable, socially justice policies and practices. This interactive discussion, modeled on EPIP’s Emerging Leader Salons and a popular session at last year’s CHANGE Philanthropy UNITY Summit, will highlight lessons learned from a panel of experts and practitioners who have worked successfully – or not so successfully – to advance equity within their own institutions. The program will tap into the wisdom in the room and provide space for group discussion.
- Jeanné Isler, Vice President and Chief Engagement Officer, National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP) (Moderator)

Nine girls. Nine stories of courage.
Our film, Girl Rising, spotlights the unforgettable stories of girls living in the developing world, striving beyond circumstance and overcoming nearly insurmountable odds to achieve their dreams.
Directed by Academy Award Nominee, Richard E. Robbins, written by acclaimed female writers, and voiced by acclaimed actresses including Meryl Streep, Kerry Washington, Anne Hathaway and more, Girl Rising proves that one girl with courage is a revolution.
Join EPIP DC throughout the year as we screen three groundbreaking documentaries – Before the Flood, 13th and Girl Rising. This three-part series explores themes that challenge systems of power, including environmental justice, discrimination and criminal justice reform, and girls’ education and empowerment. We hope these screenings will encourage us to lean into the uncomfortable and provide us with an opportunity to discuss issues we all care about.
- Each film will start promptly at 6:10 pm and will be followed by open dialogue.
- Light refreshments will be provided.
Bring a friend or colleague to join for an evening of film and conversation.
*NOTE: Girl Rising is our last scheduled screening for the year. If you are interested in hosting your own screening, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
