EPIP DC is proud to pilot a new mentorship program to help cultivate strategic, supportive relationships for professional and leadership development in our local network and philanthropic community.

Inspired by EPIP National’s strategic framework and the mentorship programs hosted by EPIP Boston and EPIP LA, the DC chapter sees this as an opportunity to support our members in their internal and external advocacy and our shared commitment to equity and social justice in philanthropy.

The inaugural 2018-2019 cohort includes 10 emerging and mid-level leaders and 10 seasoned professionals who are paired for one-on-one Mentoring Partnerships. The program spans 7 months from September 2018 to March 2019 with a commitment of 2-3 hours per month, including monthly one-on-one meetings for Mentoring Partners, group social activities and networking events, and VIP space at chapter events.

In just six weeks, 200 of the brightest minds in philanthropy will come together in Detroit at EPIP's 2018 National Conference, The Road Ahead: Leadership in Uncertain Times, to better understand the many ways we can develop leadership and build equity in our sector, even as the world around us grows more turbulent.

WASHINGTON, D.C.- EPIP DC hosted a panel discussion and conversation Wednesday, June 6 on philanthropy's role in U.S. democracy. This marks the first major event of the year for the EPIP DC Chapter.

Now in its fifth year of programming, EPIP LA’s Mentorship Program has continued to connect early to mid-career philanthropic professionals with executives in the field to serve as a mentor and with peers to support them on their journey. This unique program provides a structured cohort opportunity for mentees to work with a seasoned professional to deepen their learning of philanthropy, build efficacy in their current positions and thought-partner in building long-term career plans, which remains in great need within the philanthropic sector. How Generation Y is Shaping the Future of Philanthropy

Reflections by Angela Sanchez, Program Officer for College Success at ECMC Foundation, a national foundation that makes investments in postsecondary programs and initiatives. 

When ECMC Foundation (ECMCF) first brought me on almost three years ago, I wasn’t yet old enough to rent a car for an upcoming site visit. We were in the early stages of our staff growth and I was officially the youngest person in the office. I did the math—indeed, I was half a standard deviation younger than the average age among my fellow staff members. Only my immediate program director – a Millennial from the 80s – helped skew the average away from making me a full standard deviant. [read more]
