Accidental pregnancy can perpetuate adverse economic, social, and health outcomes for millions of families. By removing barriers to contraceptive counseling, care, and same-day contraceptive access, Upstream hopes to empower women to achieve their goals and have children when they want them and plan for them.
Position Summary
Upstream USA is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Development Associate to support fundraising and donor stewardship. Upstream USA’s mission is to help women achieve their goals and become pregnant only when they want to by changing healthcare so that all women can conveniently access the full range of contraceptive methods, particularly the most effective ones, IUDs and the implant.
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks
  • Preparing materials for annual investors meetings and conference calls
  • Conducting research on prospects, including individuals and foundations identified by the co-founders as potential sources of funds for Upstream USA
  • Preparing a variety of reports about historical philanthropy of these prospects
  • Researching and recommending a database for tracking prospects and donors
  • Managing current donor spreadsheets
  • Tracking of progress toward fundraising campaign goals including gifts and pledges
  • Recommending new donors for the co-founders to pursue
  • Administrative support to the co-founders including scheduling meetings, arranging travel and processing expense reports
  • When co-founders travel making recommendations for current or potential donors to visit in that city
  • Other duties as assigned. Upstream USA is a start-up with a small team and so flexibility and a willingness to pitch in on whatever is needed is essential
Required Experience, Skills and Ability
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a development support position
  • Strong writing skills
  • Experience creating basic computer graphics and presentations
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, data entry and data analysis, as well as demonstrated computer aptitude and experience
  • Ability to learn new software quickly such as Google sheets, Google drive, toggl, OnePageCRM and Concur
