PLACES (Professionals Learning About Community, Equity & Smart Growth), is a year-long fellowship program that offers tools, knowledge, coaching, and best practices to build leadership skills and enhance funder grantmaking decisions in ways that are responsive to the needs and assets of low-income neighborhoods and communities of color.
PLACES builds the skills and knowledge of a diverse cohort of professionals in philanthropy, allowing them to grow as leaders and better understand issues of equity and inclusiveness as it relates to growth and development issues and to translate what they have learned into their grantmaking practices.
PLACES is a component of the Funders’ Network’s Inclusiveness Initiative, an ongoing collective effort to live our values in our everyday work; to learn more about our work and the priorities of our members when it comes to matters of diversity and inclusiveness; and to create a culture of learning and inclusiveness that will be with us for the foreseeable future. The PLACES program is a key strategy for achieving this goal.
More information about the PLACES fellowship, along with the factsheet and application, can be found on our website at www.fundersnetwork.org/participate/places. The application deadline is August 17, 2012.
